To conclude the 2024 Ā BC Soccer Provincial Premier Cup, the Coastal FC 2009 girls faced off against North Vancouver FC. Despite being down early in the game, our girls showed incredible resilience and determination. The match remained intense, with our girls equalizing in the 77th minute through a remarkable corner kick by Izzy Benetti, finished by Morgan Cavezza. The game proceeded directly to penalty kicks after full-time. Coastal FCās fearless goalkeeper, Ava Strauss, made an outstanding PK save, and Maya Galeas-Allen clinched the victory with the final PK into the bottom right corner. Our Coastal FC 2009 girls have earned their spot in the inaugural Player Development Championships, set to take place in Edmonton, AB, in August. Head coach Steven Duffy said: āWe didnāt achieve the success we aimed for in the regular season. However, the team's resilience and determination during the Provincial Cup run was truly inspiring. We secured our place at the PDP National Championships with a strong performance against Surrey United in the semi-final. We followed that up with a victory in the final to claim our third provincial title in a row. I am extremely proud of the girls and canāt wait for August when they can showcase their abilities as they compete at Nationals.ā
We want to thank all our players, coaches, staff, parents, families, and friends for their amazing support during the season. We hope all players have a fantastic summer, and we wish the best of luck to our three teams (07M Royal, 08M Royal & 10F White) participating in the BC Soccer Provincial B-Cup in Kamloops, BC. Once the B-Cup has concluded, a recap will be provided on Coastal FC's website.
