2010F White Girls U14 B-Cup Group A Recap

Coastal FC's 2010 White Girls started strong in their Girls Provincial B-Cup match against 10F KESA Rovers, leading 2-0 within 10 minutes. Despite Kayala Jope's hat-trick and a superb set piece by Elizabeth Toth and Easha Sidhu, KESA won 6-4. In the second game against 10F KYSA Blaze, Coastal FC trailed 6-0 at halftime. Maya Bomford scored in the second half, but the game ended 9-1. In the third game against Juan De Fuca Guldin, Maya Bomford's disallowed equalizer and another goal brought the score to 2-1 at halftime. However, JdF capitalized on counter-attacks to win 5-1.

Coastal FC 2010 Girls White ended their last game on a high note after a tough week, despite an early goal from the Field Art FC Lynx within three minutes. Coastal quickly responded with Maya Bomford equalizing after a pass from Juliette Floris, and Georgia Sebring gave them the lead with a goal from a deep corner by Holly Kube. Kalaya Jope added two more goals before halftime, capitalizing on a rebound and a breakaway. Juliette Floris scored a penalty in the second half, and Bomford added another goal to seal the deal. The Lynx managed two goals, including an own goal and a late corner, but Coastal's defence held strong. Despite Shaania Josh and Alexa Romanyk's injuries, Coastal secured a convincing victory of 6-3.

Head Coach Ed Picher commented on the B-Cup Tournament: “A master class in losing with grace and winning with humility, playing against the best with heads held high. These young women rose to the occasion and left nothing on the field all season. After three weeks in 7th place, they qualified in a round of 32, won the Coastal B Cup, and finished Spring as Cascadia League Champions. It's bittersweet with various players moving to Division 1 in the fall. The Mighty Mighty Howlers experienced something magical this season. We coaches were lucky to come along for the ride. They are the best team in the world. Nothing but proud."

2008M Royal Boys U16 B-Cup Group A - Recap

In a tough match, Coastal FC 2008 Royal Boys were dominated by KYSA Blaze, conceding a goal in the 34th minute. Hayden Lannard earned a penalty, but David Ren's shot was saved. Kamloops added another goal in the 64th minute, ending the game 2-0. Determined to bounce back, Coastal FC 08M Royal Boys dominated the first half against NSFC Mustangs but were held to 0-0 at halftime. NSFC scored twice early in the second half, securing a 2-0 win. In their third game against Shuswap, Coastal led 1-0 at halftime with a goal from Liam O'Neil. David Ren extended the lead to 2-0, but Shuswap quickly equalized. Hayden Lannard scored in the 70th minute, securing a 3-2 victory for Coastal FC.

In their final game, Coastal FC 08M Royal Boys, down to just one sub due to injuries, delivered a remarkable performance. They dominated the first half with most of the possession and scoring chances. Liam O'Neill scored twice: first in the 16th minute, receiving a high, long pass from Kilian Dokaj and finishing with a shot to the corner, and then in the 30th minute, scoring from a rebound after Ryan Boora's shot was blocked. Despite several chances from nicely placed through balls, Coastal was repeatedly stopped by the Nelson goalkeeper. Tristan Dykeman was stellar in net for Coastal, making several spectacular saves. By the second half, with temperatures reaching 35 degrees, Coastal continued to battle and maintain their play. Liam O'Neill scored two more goals, including an exciting solo effort in the 73rd minute, where he took the ball down the left wing, beat two Nelson players along the goal line, and finished with a shot to the far corner. Coastal emerged victorious with a 4-0 win, thanks to O'Neill's goals and Dykeman's solid goalkeeping.

Coaches Bill Borra and Barry Hill reflect on the BC Soccer Provincial B-Cup: “We are super proud of our team. The boys persevered through heat and injuries, playing the ultimate team game. In the final game, we scored four goals from Liam O'Neil, and spectacular goaltending from Trystan Dykeman was the icing on the cake."

2007M Royal Boys U17 B-Cup Group A - Recap

Coastal FC 2007 Royal Boys first game was a tough one with a 2-0 loss to Coquitlam Metro Ford, conceding a free-kick goal and a counter-attack goal. In game two against Langley United, Coastal FC equalized with Kaellan Whiffin's brilliant strike but lost 2-1 after a late goal from Langley to the eventual provincial champions. It was a strong performance from the team, and it was rewarding to see their efforts result in a well-deserved victory of 5-2.

In the final B-Cup game, Coastal FC 2007M Royal Boys faced Juan De Fuca. Jayden Anderson scored in both halves, opening the game with a brilliant finish. Despite dominating possession and hitting the crossbar and posts several times, they only scored once in the first half. In the second half, Ollie Reynolds earned a penalty, which Hayden Phoenix converted in his last game with the team. Jayden added another goal, and Laken Schnapp finished with a perfect strike to the far post. Blake Edwards stepped in as keeper in the latter part of the second half and didn't concede a goal. Coastal FC won the game with a final score of 4-1.

Head Coach Richard Chin said: “Although the team didn't get the desired results in the first two games, they finished the tournament strong, showcasing their skill and determination after a successful season.”
